TRANSAVIA, the market leader in poultry meat production in Romania and one of the country’s most reputable family-owned businesses, has been awarded Silver level in the Romania Corporate Sustainability & Transparency Index (CST Index) 2025, the most comprehensive sustainability ranking in Romania.
The company obtained a score of 81 points, following an extensive evaluation based on 243 data points, structured across 11 key sustainability categories and 99 performance indicators. These include sustainability governance, diversity policies, economic impact, climate change and energy, environmental governance, human rights and anti-corruption, responsible employment, product responsibility, community investment, value chain management, and materiality and impact assessment.
According to TRANSAVIA representatives, the Silver recognition places the company among the best-performing organizations in a national context where sustainability reporting and non-financial disclosure remain at a relatively low level.
“This CST Index Silver recognition reflects the consistent efforts of our team and the way we choose to build our business for the long term: with clear rules, responsibility, and transparency. Sustainability is not an isolated objective, but an integrated part of how we operate every day,” company representatives stated.
Fully Integrated and Circular Business Model
TRANSAVIA operates a fully integrated ‘from grain to fork’ business model, unique in the region, ensuring complete product traceability and high food safety standards. All poultry originates exclusively from the company’s own farms and is processed in its own facilities, allowing strict control over quality, environmental impact, and resource efficiency.
Sustainability principles are embedded throughout the production process. Agricultural by-products are reused as animal bedding, secondary materials from feed production are redirected back into agriculture, and animal by-products not intended for human consumption are fully recovered in dedicated processing facilities. This circular approach enables TRANSAVIA to eliminate waste and valorize 100% of production outputs.
Trusted Partner for Retail and Food Service Chains
Due to its consistent product quality, sustainable practices, operational flexibility, and reliability, TRANSAVIA is a long-term partner for major retail chains, distributors, and fast-food restaurant operators, further consolidating its leadership position in the Romanian poultry market.
CST Index Methodology and Industry Context
The Romania CST Index 2025 marks the 10th anniversary edition of the ranking and is based on a rigorous methodology aligned with major international sustainability and non-financial reporting frameworks, including CSRD, ESRS, GRI Universal Standards, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, UN SDGs, and UN Global Compact principles.
According to data cited by The Azores Sustainability & CSR Services agency, approximately 92% of Romanian companies with over 500 employees would not exceed a 50% sustainability score, mainly due to the absence of formal sustainability reports or disclosures—underscoring the relevance of TRANSAVIA’s achievement.
